“JUSTICE 4 ROXSANA
Roxsana Hernandez was a Honduran transgender woman, seeking asylum in the U.S. She was repeatedly denied access to medical care she begged for and trans cellmates organized a hunger strike to get proper care. She ultimately died in custody less than three weeks after presenting herself for asylum, on May 25, 2018. Detention facilities continue violent human rights violations on detainees and many more have died after Roxsana, including trans immigrant from El Salvador, Johana Medina, and countless other detainees.”
